Wang Yan

Wang Yan, female, Associate Professor, Master Tutor. In 1984, she graduated from the Chinese Department of Shandong University. In 1989, she graduated from the Chinese Department of Shandong University with a MA in Chinese history. In 2005, she graduated from the School of Literature and Journalism of Shandong University with a Ph.D. in Chinese philology.

Her main research areas are: the theory and practice of teaching Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL); Chinese philology.


Teaching experience: She has been engaged in TCFL since 1984, mainly teaching basic language courses such as intensive reading, speaking, listening, and optional language courses like Chinese pronunciation correction for international students; for undergraduates, teaching "Introduction to Chinese Linguistics", "Chinese Teaching Methodology" and other courses; for graduate students, teaching courses such as "Chinese Studies Based on Second Language Teaching", "Case Analysis of Chinese Teaching", "Special Study on Phonetics in TCFL ".


Overseas experience: From September 1996 to June 1998, she went to the Punjab University in India and taught at Delhi University. From March to December 2006, she taught at the Dongseo University in South Korea. She has served as an expert of NOCFL many times and went to Hansung University, Yonsei University in South Korea, to the Confucius Institute at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and to the Confucius Institute at the National University of Mongolia to teach overseas teacher training courses.


Main academic achievements: The main research projects undertaken include: Chinese Teacher Training Course in Mongolia (NOCFL Project, second), Research on Liangshan Dialect (Shandong University Youth Growth Fund, presided). She has edited collaboratively some textbooks, such as New Primary Chinese Listening and New Intermediate Chinese Listening which have been published by Beijing Language and Culture University Press. She has published many papers in both domestic and foreign journals such as Studies of the Chinese Language, Journal of Shandong University, and East Asian Speech Tribune.
