Ma Xiaole

Ma Xiaole, female, Professor, Ph. D, Master’s Tutor, is currently the vice dean of the College of International Education, and a researcher at the Confucius Institute Research Center of Shandong University. She graduated from the Institute of Literature, History and Philosophy of Shandong University (Advanced Institute of Confucian Studies) and majored in Chinese classical documentation. She is mainly engaged in language and cultural communication, teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages (TCFL), Confucius Institute and Chinese traditional culture experience education.


Teaching experience: She is the head of the curriculum of the "Chinese Cultural Experience and Communication" which is the general educational core course of SDU; offers the professional compulsory course "Chinese Culture General" for undergraduates, and "Chinese Culture and Intercultural Communication" and "Introduction to Cultural Theory" for graduate students majoring in TCSOL and in TCFL.

Overseas experience: She went successively to the Confucius Institute at the National University of Mongolia, the Confucius Institute at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and the Confucius Institute at the Dongseo University in South Korea.


Scientific research projects: She presided over and completed Shandong Provincial Social Science Planning Project, Shandong Soft Science Project, Ministry of Education Project "Confucius Institute's Cultural Function and Social Value" (second), Shandong University Independent Innovation Fund Project “Study on International Communication Model of Chinese Culture” and other scientific research topics.

Academic Achievements: She published the monograph The History of Zhuangzi Studies in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties; is the Associate Editor  of the "Confucius Institute Research and Development Report 2016", "Confucius Institute Research Annual Report 2017" and "Confucius Institute Research Annual Report 2018"; is the Chief Editor of "Language and Culture Communication Research (Second Series)"; published academic papers such as Interaction and Reciprocity of Technological Progress and Cultural Reproduction——Based on the Analysis of Printing and We-Media, National Significance and Era Characteristics of Language and Culture Communication, Cultural Function and Social Value of Confucius Institutes, Study of Zhuangzi by Ruan Ji, Ji Kang and Wei and Jin Dynasties, "Zhuangzi" and Eastern Jin Literature in authoritative journals such as "Journal of Literature, History & Philosophy", "Shandong Social Sciences", " Dongyue Tribune", " Theory Journal", "Qilu Journal" and other national Chinese core journals; published Chinese Culture Readings (deputy editor), including eight volumes such as Calligraphy Art, Beijing Opera Art, Silk Culture. She is also the editor of the International Chinese Education and Culture Textbook Daily Chinese Culture --Paper-cutting.

Achievements: She won the third prize of the 28th Humanities and Social Sciences Achievements (independent) of Shandong Province, the third prize of the 31st Humanities and Social Sciences Achievements of Shandong Province (first), and the first cultural innovation award of Shandong Provincial Government (Second), demonstrated project of the Ministry of Education's national universities "respect for outstanding traditional culture" (second).
