Chen Meng

Chen Meng, a native of Jinan, Shandong Province, Ph.D. Candidate, Lecturer.

In 2006, he graduated from the School of Literature and Journalism of Shandong University majoring in Journalism, as well as from the School of Economics majoring in International Economics and Trade, with a dual bachelor's degree in Literature and Economics. In 2009, he graduated from the School of Literature and Journalism of Shandong University with a master's degree in Chinese philology. His main research areas are teaching Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL); Chinese philology.


Work experience:

He has been teaching Chinese to international students at the College of International Education of Shandong University since September 2007; mainly offers courses of intensive reading and speaking for primary and intermediate international students; participates in the preparatory education program for international students in China, offers courses like Chinese comprehensive, comprehensive training, basic Chinese, vocabulary and reading; participates in the National Development Bank - Chinese Training Project of Shandong University, and teaches comprehensive Chinese, vocabulary and reading for project participants. He also undertakes a number of short-term training projects of NOCFL during the summer and winter vacations.


Overseas experience:

From August 2013 to June 2016, he was a government-funded Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute and the Department of Sinology at Leiden University in the Netherlands.


Academic achievements and research projects:

Participated in the planning, compilation and revision of the textbook Instruction of Chinese Reading and Writing about Western Medicine designated by the National Scholarship Committee; participated in the compilation and publication of two textbooks of HSK; participated in the compilation of an oral Chinese textbook of TCFL. Participated in one of the national social science projects, one of the major social science projects at school level, and presided over one of the key scientific research projects at school level.


Awards:

He won the Award of Outstanding Instructor (NOCFL, CCTV) of the 4th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Competition for International Students in China, and the Excellence Award for the Young Teachers' Lecture Competition of Shandong University.
