Wang Jun, female, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Master Tutor

In 1990, she graduated from the Chinese Department of Shandong University. In 1993, she graduated from the School of Literature and Journalism of Shandong University with a Master of Arts degree in Chinese philology. In 1999, she graduated from the School of Literature and Journalism of Shandong University with a Doctor of Arts degree in Chinese philology. Her main research areas are the theory and practice of teaching Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL), and Chinese philology (majoring in modern Chinese vocabulary).


Teaching experience: She has been engaged in TCFL since 1993. In 2008, she was awarded the title of the fourth teaching expert of Shandong University. For international students, she mainly teaches some basic language courses, such as intensive reading, speaking, listening, reading etc., and some language optional courses such as modern Chinese vocabulary, HSK guidance etc.; for undergraduates, she teaches "Introduction to TCFL" "Class Design of Chinese Teaching" and other courses; for graduate students, she teaches "Study on TCFL", "Chinese Studies Based on Second Language Teaching", and "Special Studies on Vocabulary of TCFL" and so on; for training overseas Chinese teachers, courses such as "Chinese Vocabulary Teaching Method", "Chinese Class Organization and Teaching Skills", "Cultivation of Oral Chinese Skills", and " Application of Chinese Games in Class" are offered.


Overseas experience: many times she has, as an expert of NOCFL, been to Seoul National University in South Korea and Confucius Institute at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore to teach overseas teacher training courses. In the summer of 2008, she went to the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada to attend training courses of NOCFL for the elites on Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.


Main academic achievements: The main research projects are: Format Dictionary of Spoken Chinese (NOCFL Project, presided), Study of Vocabulary Cognition taken Chinese as a Second Language (Youth Growth Fund of Shandong University, presided), Chinese Teacher Training Courses in Mongolia (NOCFL Project, second), Research of Chinese Inter-language Corpus for Korean (NOCFL Project, second) and so on. She has published independent academic monographs such as Analysis of Dynamic Development of Chinese Vocabulary and Study on Semantics System of Chinese Words, as well as some textbooks like Advanced Chinese Listening and Introduction to Linguistics (cooperation). She has published many papers as well, such as An Overview of Chinese Teaching and Teacher Analysis in Korean High Schools, Design of Teaching Units for Advanced Reading Courses Based on Multiple Objectives, Language and Cultural Problems in TCFL, and Implementation of SEME in Spoken Language and Its Proofs.


Awards: The academic monograph- Study on Semantics System of Chinese Words, won the third prize of outstanding scientific research achievements (works) of Shandong Province in 2006; the teaching reform project- Exploration and Practice of Internationalized and Compound Chinese Teacher Training System (cooperation) won the Teaching Achievement Award of Shandong University in 2008 and the third prize of Teaching Achievement of Shandong Province.
