On May 26, 2019, the final of the sixth "Super Star Cup" Teaching Competition for Young Teachers in Colleges and Universities in Shandong province came to an end at Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational College. As the representative of our college, Jiao Yanan won first prize in the liberal arts group. This is the second consecutive year that a young teacher of our college has won the top prize in this competition.
Launched in November 2018, the competition attracted 679 young teachers from 111 colleges and universities, a larger number than ever before. In the beginning, Jiao Yanan had won first prize in the teaching competition for young teachers in Shandong University. She insisted on finishing the preliminary competition and the quarter-finals of the provincial competition even though she was pregnant. In the final, she won first prize by virtue of her excellent performance in such parts as class teaching and teaching reflection.
The competition was sponsored by Shandong Provincial Education Department and Shandong Provincial Education Union, undertaken by Shandong Provincial College and University Teacher Training Center. As one of the top-level teaching competitions in Shandong Province, this competition aims at improving the in-class teaching level of young teachers in colleges and universities and promotes the improvement of their teaching abilities. Our college attaches great importance to this competition. To be specific, young teachers were actively mobilized and encouraged to participate in the competition. Besides, our college had invited a group of experts to polish and improve the courses for those who participated in the competition. During the process, we have gained strong support from the Undergraduate College of SDU and the Center for Teaching Advancement and Faculty Development, guidance from experts and professors in relevant fields inside and outside SDU which laid a solid foundation for the teachers in our college to achieve good performances.
