Brief Introduction of the Research

Teachers in CIE have comprehensive educational backgrounds and diversified structures of knowledge, covering linguistics, pedagogy, communication, literature, sociology, etc. It is conducive to cultivate students' professional ability, enrich students' knowledge, shape students' broad academic vision, and improve students' comprehensive quality.

More than 90% of the teachers have overseas experience. They respectively undertake the national social science fund projects and the humanities and social sciences research projects of the Ministry of education in the fields of teaching Chinese as a second language, Chinese international education, Confucius Institute and Chinese culture communication. They undertake a number of research tasks entrusted by the Confucius Institute Headquarters, which forms a multi-level academic achievement cluster including monographs, journal papers, teaching materials and special reports and think-tank achievements. These academic achievements form a cross-border, interdisciplinary and open academic research platform.

The Confucius Institute Research Center is the first think tank of the Confucius Institute Research in China. It aims at providing advice and suggestions for the purpose of furthering the understanding of Chinese language and culture communication. The center has published the annual report of the Confucius Institute Research, which has a wide influence in the research area, for three consecutive years. In 2018 the center was successfully selected as the source think tank of China Think Tank Index (ctti).

The Faculty is exquisite in profession. The teachers' team and individuals have successively won the first National University Demonstration Project Award for " Chinese excellent traditional culture" (10 awards in total), the first Shandong Provincial Cultural Innovation Award (approved by the central government, the first highest Cultural Innovation Award established by the provincial government), a batch of "Shandong Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award" and University Young Teachers' Teaching Competition Award. In 2018 the teachers won the first prize of "Shandong young teacher lecture competition".
