I.Eligibility
1. General Requirements
(1)Applicants must be physically and mentally healthy, friendly to China, have no criminal record, and be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport;
(2)Applicants must possess a high school diploma or above;
2. Language Proficiency Requirements
Applicants must pass the HSK Level 5 examination (180 points or above). Applicants with the highest level of education taught in Chinese are exempt from providing an HSK certificate, but must provide proof of the language of instruction.
Applicants must comply with the relevant provisions of the Notice by the Ministry of Education of Regulating Admission of International Students in China's Higher Education Institutions. (Letter No. 12[2020] of the Ministry of Education).
Note: The exit and entry administration authority of the Chinese public security organ will determine whether the applicant has Chinese nationality in addition to foreign nationality based on the results of the nationality determination. If it is determined that the applicant holds Chinese nationality after application, admission, or enrollment, the application, admission, or study qualification will be annulled.
II.Application Time
Self-financed Program application timeline: From now to May 31, 2025;
Chinese Government Scholarship (Type A) application timeline: Please consult the relevant dispatch authority of the host country for specific information;
Chinese Government Scholarship (Type B) application timeline: From now to February 16, 2025;
International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship application timeline: From now to May 15, 2025;
Jinan Sister City Scholarship application timeline: From now to March 1, 2025;
Shandong University Scholarship for Outstanding International Students application timeline: From now to April 1, 2025.
Note: After the application deadline, supplementary materials cannot be submitted. Applicants are advised to complete their applications at least two weeks before the deadline.

IV.Application Procedures
Please visit Shandong University Application System for International Students (http://www.apply.sdu.edu.cn) to register an account and complete the application. Hard copies of application documents are not needed.
V.Application Documents
Applicants are required to ensure the authenticity and accuracy of the provided application information and materials.If the application information and materials are verified to be untrue, the applicant's application, admission, or enrollment qualification will be canceled.
1.Personal information page of the passport (regular personal passport valid beyond March 1, 2026).
2.High school diploma or pre-graduation certificate (the pre-graduation certificate must be stamped with the school seal, indicating the expected graduation date, and the graduation certificate must be obtained before the registration date of the corresponding year).
3.Transcript of all high school courses (stamped with the school seal).
4.Letter of motivation in Chinese
Applicants should fill out the form provided by our university according to the template requirements in Chinese. (please download the template from:
https://www.istudy.sdu.edu.cn/English/Home.htm - "Download").
5.Language proficiency certificate
The certificate should be valid, HSK usually for a period of 2 years. If applicants provide proof of language of instruction, a school letter signed by the relevant responsible person and stamped with the school seal is required.
6.Foreigner Physical Examination Form
Applicants should undergo the examination strictly according to the required items stated in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (please download the template from: https://www.istudy.sdu.edu.cn/English/Home.htm - "Download"). Forms will be deemed invalid if they are incomplete, lack attached photos, do not have a cross-page seal on the photo, lack a signature of the attending physician, or are without an official hospital stamp. Please ensure the physical examination remains valid during the application as the result is valid for only 6 months.
7.Certificate of No Criminal Record
Applicants must submit the Certificate of No Criminal Record issued by local public security management department. It should be valid within 6 months prior to the application date.
8.Scanned copies of the financial guarantee materials(applicants who apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship and don't accept any adjustment are exempt from these requirements), including: (1) Scanned copies of passport or identification document ofthe financial guarantor (limited to the applicant or immediate family member) ; (2) Proof of financial support, with deposits of no less than50,000 RMB or an equivalent amount in foreign currency.
9. Applicants under the age of 18 must submit scanned copies of the following documents:
(1)Guardian statement (please download the template from: https://www.istudy.sdu.edu.cn/English/Home.htm - "Download"). The guardian
must be an adult living in Shandong Province, China.
(2)A notarized paper to prove that the applicant's parents have entrusted guardianship to the guardian.
(3)The guardian's ID or passport.
10. Applicants mentioned in the Notice by the Ministry of Education of Regulating
Admission of International Students to China's Higher Education Institutions (Letter No. 12 [2020] of the Ministry of Education) must submit the following supporting documents, including but not limited to:
(1)Residents of the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan who apply for admission to Shandong University as international students after they have immigrated and acquired the foreign nationality shall provide the following materials: (a) Proof documents related to the renunciation of Chinese nationality; (b) Certificate of annulment of household registration in China; (c) Certificate of permanent residence in a foreign country; (d).Certificate of acquiring foreign nationality; (e) Passport entry and exit records from April 30, 2021 to April 30, 2025;
(2)For those obtaining foreign nationality at birth, if either one or both parents are Chinese citizens and have settled abroad, and are applying as international students, the following documents are required: (a) Certificate of obtaining foreign nationality at birth; (b) Permanent residence permit(s) of the parent(s) (Chinese citizen(s)) before the applicant's birth in a foreign country; (c) Passport entry and exit records from April 30, 2021 to April 30, 2025.
11. Additional supplementary materials required by Shandong University.
Note: All application documents must be in Chinese or English. If the documents are in other languages, the original document and a certified translation in English or Chinese must be uploaded together. Please use a scanner to scan the relevant documents in color, as documents taken with mobile phones or cameras, as well as photocopies, will not be accepted. Except for the "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" and personal signatures, handwritten documents will not be accepted.
VI.Examination and Admission
In accordance with relevant national regulations, all applicants for bachelor programs in China are required to take the Academic Proficiency Test for Incoming International Undergraduate Students. The examination time and format will be further noticed.
The university will assess applicants through a review of their application documents, the Academic Proficiency Test results, interviews, and other methods. Admission will be based on the final grades. After completing the application, please regularly check your application system and registered email for updates on your admission status and related information.
VII.Registration
Admitted students must strictly follow the time specified in the admission letter to register at Shandong University. During registration, the original copies of the graduation certificate, language proficiency certificate, Foreigner Physical Examination Form and other required documents will be verified. Those failing to submit the corresponding certificates will be disqualified from enrollment.
VIII.Fees
1.Application fee: 400 RMB ((Please pay the application fee after receiving the pre-admission email. Once the application fee is paid, it will be non-refundable.)
2.Tuition fee :18000 RMB/year
3.Medical insurance fee: 800 RMB/person/year; Failure to purchase the required medical insurance for international students studying in China will result in the inability to complete the registration procedures at the university.
4.Accommodation fee: Varied based on the room type, typically ranging from 23 to 45 RMB/person/day.

IX. Visa
Admitted students must take the electronic version of the admission letter and the Confirmation Form for Study in China (JW201/202) to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate abroad to apply for a study visa. International students studying in China for up to 6 months should apply for an X2 visa. Those studying for more than 6 months should apply for an X1 visa and apply for a residence permit within 30 days after arriving in China.
